The first part of Alexandria desert road became a destination for many wealthy families who want to stay as far as possible from Cairo’s hustle and bustle. On both sides of the road, a number of luxurious residential projects were established exploiting the Agricultural Land Reclamation act. This act that resulted in the successful development of Wadi Farms and Dina Farms was used by a number of residential compounds. The area overall is distinguished by it’s calmness, fresh air and abundance of green spaces; however, several developers violated the laws that they used to obtain their land and built higher densities than what is allowed, and now they face legal issues with the government. Alex Desert Road area offers mostly upscale and luxury housing, public transportation to the area is limited, and most residents use their private cars.
