Residents or visitors enter the district through specific gates named after four of the most famous Pharaohs kings of Egypt. The gates are: the first gate is King Khufu’s gate, the second gate is King Khafre’s gate, the third gate is King Menkaure’s gate, and the fourth gate is King Mina’s gate.

Each of these four gates represents an entrance to a specific group of Hadayek al-Ahram areas. The first gate (Khufu's Gate) is an entrance to areas: A - B - C - D - E – F. The second gate (Khafre's Gate) is an entrance to areas: G - H - I - J – K. The third gate (Menkaure's Gate) is an entrance to areas: L - M - N – O. The fourth gate (Mina's Gate) is a back entrance to the entire Hadayek al-Ahram district.

One of the most important features of Hadayek al-Ahram is its good planning and being surrounded by a wall as if it is a large compound. The transportation stations have also been moved to places designated for them. It is expected that there will be a special police station for Hadayek al-Ahram. Moreover, these areas have a variety of housing units, as there are typical five and seven-story apartment buildings, small villas, palaces and luxury homes.

Mid-level areas in Hadayek al-Ahram

Most of Hadayek al-Ahram areas are middle class, especially areas B - C - E - F - - R - G - H - L - J - I, where basic services and some recreational services are provided. Their buildings are characterized by good planning, except in some areas where transgressions and violations of building licenses have been committed. As a result, the competent authorities would firmly deal with them.

Services are available in these areas because it is the heart of Hadayek al-Ahram district. There are schools, hospitals, public parks, green spaces, malls, restaurants, cafes and nurseries.

The most famous schools in these areas are New Vision Language School, Future Pioneers Language School, El Haram Modern Language School, Family Home Nursery, and Smart Baby Academy. The most famous hospitals and medical service providers are the Canadian Speech Center, Tabarak Children's Hospital, Hadayek Al-Ahram Branch, Al-Nahar Diet Center, City Clinic Center for Medical Services, Al-Taqwa Comprehensive Medical Center for all specialties: teeth, internal medicine, dermatology, women, obstetrics, bones, chest and ophthalmology, which is equipped with all capabilities. Also, there are Shafi’i specialist clinics, as well as branches of the most famous pharmacies and radiology and analysis centers.

Sports halls and playgrounds are abundant in Hadayek al-Ahram to cover all areas. Residents and visitors can benefit from them, especially as the district is close to the famous Al Remaya Sports Club. The club is an important sports outlet for residents of the district as well, as they can subscribe to it or enter as visitors and benefit from free or paid activities. There are special activities for children and adults in the club, which becomes especially active during the summer after the school season ends.

As for shops and malls, they are many, various, small and large ones. There are branches of the most famous brands of clothes, shoes, and accessories. They are often concentrated in the main streets, such as Al-Tharwa Al-Maadaniya Street and Al-Jaish Street.

Despite there are high-end and middle areas that provide all services, there are some tips that will prevent you from making a bad choice when you decide to buy a unit in Hadayek al-Ahram. For example, it is preferable to stay away from the units that overlook the main streets in order to avoid any inconvenience and noise, whereas side streets are completely quiet. Also, avoid buying the units on the high floors, as units on the ground floors are inexpensive.

It is also preferable to live near educational and commercial services and closer to the gates, as this saves a lot of money and effort to move from area to another in the district.

Economic areas in Hadayek al-Ahram

Hadayek al-Ahram district is mainly classified as a mid-level district. Likewise the rest of districts and regions, it has some economic areas, however, the standard of living is not much less than in the middle areas. In fact, there are some communities where the standard of living, services and welfare are low.

Hadayek al-Ahram once was one of the high-end districts established to be a small community within a gated fence, but residents suffered from slum areas and deterioration of the security situation for a while. The area, however, began to restore its basic characteristics: calmness, safety and cleanliness. After the officials have taken the necessary steps and many complaints have been raised by residents to the television and talk shows, the state paid attention to the district and its problems.

Just as there are economic areas in Hadayek al-Ahram, there are also some dangerous areas, in which fraud is frequent during selling or buying the housing units. For example, the high pressure area, through which the high-pressure electric current wires pass and affect the lives of children and the general health of residents. Despite the fact that the prices of properties in this area are low, it is a very dangerous area and not recommended to buy housing units in it. But, you can buy shops in it due to the low prices.

Attention should also be also paid to the units and floors violating the law, as the district is licensed so that all the apartment buildings would be consist of five floors only. Therefore, the sixth floor is against the law, but the buyer is deceived by its cheap price and would meet obstacles during the completion of facilities, such as gas and electricity.

Since tuk-tuk vehicles are prohibited in the area, residents may have to walk a great distance up to the Oasis Road after passing the four gates, so it is recommended to own a car or use a safe vehicle.

Evaluation of Hadayek al-Ahram has become a subject of interest due to its proximity to the most vital areas of Giza Governorate, namely the archaeological area, which is directly located across it, and a one kilometer away.

Advantages of Hadayek Al-Ahram

1. Its privileged location at the end of El Haram and Faisal streets, next to Al Remaya square, Al Remaya club, the officers ’residences, the most famous hotels in Giza, the tourist area, and the Egyptian Museum.

2. Its proximity to Sheikh Zayed City, New Giza, 6th of October City and Hadayek October district, as well as its proximity to the center of the capital, the heart of Giza Governorate, the desert road and the main axes of Cairo and Giza, such as the 26th of July Corridor and the Ring Road.

3. Hadayek al-Ahram is distinguished by its good planning, the organization of the urban cluster, and the distribution of services in all areas, whether basic, recreational or sports.

4. Hadayek al-Ahram is distinguished by many schools. These schools vary between governmental (experimental, languages and Arabic), primary, preparatory and secondary, as well as private, nurseries and centers for training children and developing their skills.

5. One of the most important features of Hadayek al-Ahram is the wall around it, even though it is not a compound.

6. The dedication of certain gates to enter the district with constant guarding, which increases safety and security.

7. Hadayek al-Ahram is characterized by the fact that buildings are not permitted to have a height of more than seven floors.

8. One of the most important features that serve the vitality of the district is that percentage of buildings does not exceed 60% according to the construction decision. The rest of the areas are designated as green areas, corridors between areas and service areas.

9. Hadayek al-Ahram has an inside walkway, which extends to reach Al-Jaish Street to be open to all areas of the district.

10. The fourth metro line will pass through Hadayek al-Ahram, and a plot of land has already been allocated for this purpose. This would give the district a more distinctive civilized character, and would solve the transportation problem that haunts residents.

11. Due to its location inside the archaeological area, any violations are monitored by the official authorities and would be immediately dealt with.

Disadvantages of Hadayek al-Ahram

1. Building violations are noticeable in the district, where contracting companies exceed the permissible limit of seven floors, which causes many occupations and fraud cases.

2. Due to the absence of any other means of transportation, use of tuk-tuk vehicles spread as an internal means of transportation in the district, which gave an impression to residents and visitors that it is a slum district.

3. Inattention of security service at the gates, which led to many cases of theft, and problems were solved by establishing a police station inside the district.

4. The desert back of the district is a major problem for residents, because it causes impure air, dust and sand everywhere.

5. Limited transportation to and from the district, as the Public Transport Authority provided only four public buses coming mostly from Greater Cairo districts, such as Nasr City, Mohandessin, Giza, Downtown, and Dokki, to Hadayek al-Ahram, but these transportation are characterized by severe congestion, slow movement and irregular times.

6. Despite the district remoteness from the relatively crowded areas, residents always complain about noise and congestion at the gates, especially the first gate.

7. The high prices of units in the district despite the official neglect of it, which gave the impression that it is a slum and insecure district.
