This neighborhood used to belong to the armed forces and it was used as bunkers for troops called Haganah (Camel Riders). The strategic location on the neighborhood and the lack of proper planning helped attract workers residents who started building informal housing, and the low prices of the area attracted even more residents. Eventually, Ezbet El Hagganah morphed into becoming a full fledged slum, with very poor infrastructure and services. The neighborhood offers the lowest prices in Nasr City, but it’s not properly organised and it is missing main services such as education, health care, proper streets, and green areas. About Nasr City One of Cairo’s modern and biggest neighborhoods in terms of area, Nasr City was built as an extension for Heliopolis. It is located in eastern Cairo between Heliopolis, Mokattam, and New Cairo. It is a relatively modern neighborhood, and most of its areas are well planned. The city is distinguished by its commercial activity and its unique position between the center of Cairo and most of the new cities. Nasr City is very crowded due to the commercial activity. Nasr City offers a variety of housing levels, the majority of the city offers upper-middle housing, yet there are areas that offer upscale housing, and others that offer economic housing, and a few areas that can be categorized as slums. Nasr City hosts City Stars Mall, Azhar University, Child Garden and International Garden. It is easy to access using public transportation, and it can be entered from Nasr road, Shaheed axis, Ring road, or via Metro (Stadium Station and Exhibits Station).
