The Northern Coast Turns to be More Important with the Influx of Foreign Investments

The Egyptian northern coast is one of the most important tourist and entertainment destinations in the world, thanks to its unique length along the northern border of the Mediterranean coast.

The coast includes a large number of luxurious tourist villages, and is characterized by its ideal location close to Cairo, Alexandria, and Marsa Matrouh.

The importance of the northern coast increased with the Egyptian government signing an agreement to develop the city of Ras El Hekma in 2024, and then the new agreement between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to develop Ras Jamila on the coast as well.

A Stunning View of the Coastal Villages and Resorts

The coast features stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and is famous for its soft white sand and clear blue waters. Thanks to the absence of mountains, it enjoys excellent weather during the summer, which attracts vacationers and tourists looking for stunning nature and distinguished services. The following report provides comprehensive information about this charming place, which is located on the territory of Egypt, facing the European coasts and surpassing them in natural scenery, clear waters, and golden sand.

Location of the North Coast and its Division

The northern coast extends from the city of Rafah in the east on Sinai to the city of Salloum on the Libyan border in the west. It is considered one of the longest coasts in Africa and the world, as it extends over an approximate distance of 1,050 kilometers. As for the northern Egyptian coast, it starts from the west of the city of Alexandria and extends to Salloum, passing through the cities of El Alamein and Marsa Matrouh as well.

The North Coast region is in the far north of Egypt, directly on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. When looking at the map, it appears that the tourist villages start from Kilometer 21 and extend until the city of Marsa Matrouh. The northern coast is completely devoid of mountains and high areas, and is divided into several regions:

  • The eastern side: It extends from the city of Port Said to the city of Rafah, and includes important cities such as Al-Arish, Port Said, and Suez.
  • The Central Region: It is considered a vital and important region and extends from El Alamein to Alexandria, and includes important cities such as New Alamein.
  • The western side: It extends from El Alamein to the border with Libya, and includes the city of Marsa Matrouh as a main city.
  • The northern coast of the Delta: It includes a suitable agricultural area and includes cities such as Baltim, Gamasa, Ras El Bar, and Rosetta.
  • The Old North Coast: It extends from Kilometer 21 to Kilometer 103 on the Alexandria - Marsa Matrouh road, and includes important villages such as Marakia and Marina.
  • The New North Coast: It starts from kilometer 103 and extends to the city of Marsa Matrouh, and includes areas such as Sidi Abdel Rahman and Ras El Hekma Bay.

Fouka Road Facilitates Travel to Coastal Cities

The new Fouka Road was implemented as part of the latest road projects, and it has reduced the time needed to get from Cairo to the coast by approximately half. The road extends over a distance of about 197 kilometers, and its cost is estimated at about $2 billion.

The new Fouka Road is characterized by being a highway linking Cairo, specifically 6th of October City, and the northern coast, and passing through a number of villages and important tourist areas. The new North Coast Road was implemented by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and the development of approximately 95% of the road’s infrastructure work has been completed.

The road was designed according to the latest international engineering standards, taking into account its ability to withstand various weather conditions, including heavy rain and high temperatures.

The road has two lanes, each lane is about 4 meters wide, allowing two cars to pass side by side, with concrete barriers up to 8 meters wide between the two lanes.

The starting point of the new road starts from 6th of October City, exactly from Juhayna Square, and ends in Fouka Village in New Alamein.

The northern coast includes many diverse cities, most notably Dabaa, Sidi Abdel Rahman, Sidi Heneish, Ras El Hekma, and others. These villages include many tourist projects, resorts, and tourist compounds.

Location of Dabaa City on the Northern Coast

The city of Dabaa is located in Matrouh Governorate, northwest of Egypt. It extends administratively from the village of Ghazala in the east to the village of Fouka in the west, with a total area of 60 kilometers on the coast. The city includes various educational institutions, a railway line passes through it, and it is 2 kilometers away from the international road.
